The
few of us had come up with the ‘Sea of
Red'
campaign to encourage Singaporeans and foreigners to show their
appreciation to our wonderful country by wearing Red color on the
coming National Day in 9thof August 2003.
We
had been planning this campaign since early this year.
It
all started last year during an outing not long after Singapore’s
National Day. One of us was commenting how nice it will be to see
everyone in Singapore, regardless of race, language, religion and
even nationalities, wearing Red in our 2003 National Day. Everybody
laughed and that is it!
A
dream becomes a passion and now, we are hoping to make it into a
reality.
It
might not mean much to you but it do mean a lot to us.
The
dream of getting everyone in Singapore to wear Red is the driving
force behind our group. Every one of us has been taking time off
from our busy schedule to plan and discuss on how we can make it
into a reality.
People
might ask us why we want to do something that will not benefit us at
all.
They
are wrong! The satisfaction and happiness from this campaign far
outweighs any material gains. What we want is just to do something
for our small but wonderful country.
We
have been planning for this campaign since April and we would really
like to get as many people as possible to join us. So far, our
friends are very supportive of our idea and are helping us in one
way or another.
Whatever
the outcome, we will be glad that we have tried.
One
day, our dream will come true and it might just be this year (2003).
