SEA OF RED

Welcome to our Site

Volunteers and Organizations needed for 2004

Though we have not yet to see everyone wearing RED on our 38th National Day but we believe our efforts have paid off in one way or another...

We would like to continue with the campaign next year (2004) and invite interested volunteers and organizations to help us spread the message...

From the SOR Team...

Introduction

The ‘Sea of Red' Campaign, started on the 9thof July 2003, is a one-month voluntary campaign started by a few like-minded group of people to encourage Singaporeans and foreigners to show their appreciation to our country by wearing Red color on the coming National Day in 9thof August 2003.

Objectives

  • To encourage every one in Singapore to show their appreciation through their action
  • To provide an avenue for people to send their best wishes to Singapore

Support from KFC!

2 of KFC's prominent stores will participate in the campaign -

(2) KFC Kallang, which is situated near the Kallang Stadium.

All the crew and managers on duty will be wearing red to support the
campaign.

Support from National Volunteer Centre!

Support from MINDS - West Ends!

MINDS - West Ends' volunteers will be wearing Red color on their annual reunion dinner on National Day to support our campaign.

Support from eAngelz!

eAngelz will encourage the audiences of their networking event in 5th of August to wear Red on National Day.

Our Own SEA OF RED T-Shirt design...

Significance of the design:

"The 2 arch shape framing the stars - the top arch represents the red wave, the bottom arch represents the crescent. The stars can be seen as Singaporeans united in celebration."

Designed by our volunteer, Mr Chua Geng Leong

Meaning of our National Flag
Our National Flag consists of two equal horizontal sections, red above white. In the upper left canton is a white crescent moon beside five white stars within a circle. The features of the flag were not arbitrarily chosen – each feature has its own distinctive meaning and significance: red symbolises universal brotherhood and equality of man; white signifies pervading and everlasting purity and virtue; the crescent moon represents a young nation on the ascendant; and the five stars stand for the nation's ideals of democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality.

Comments from the team

"Our friends are very supportive of our efforts so far and we hope to get as many people and organizations to support this campaign. Just pass the word around to all your friends. If you know anyone who wish to put their name in the volunteer list, just drop anyone of us an email. Cheers!"
